High School Education
Some helpful High school courses would be AP Biology, Human Biology, Young Adult Medicine, Medical Terminology, Physics, Chemistry, College Prep Math & English courses.
Post High School Education/Training
Before you can get accepted into a medical school, you must already have a bachelors or undergraduate degree in pre-medicine. Once accepted into medical school, you must complete a four year degree in medicine. After medical school, you will complete five to six years of internship at a hospital. If you wish to go into a specific field of study, you must complete another three years of internship in the field.

Special Requirements
To become a Surgeon you must have a State License to practice Medicine. To earn a state license, you must complete medical school, complete a residency program, and pass the exams at the end of your internship. Certifications are not required, but may help you in getting employed.

Want to Advance?
There is really only a few ways to advance in the field of being a Surgeon. One way is just to become a better Surgeon. If you become the best in your specialty, you will become nationally known and a lot of people will come to you to have their surgery done. You could also do medical research and get your work in medical journals.
